Local Company Rolls Up Sleeves for Schools.

Independence, Missouri – Stewardship Capital, Ltd., a locally owned investment management firm, has partnered with the Independence School District to be a sponsor of the district’s Project Shine event. Project Shine is an annual volunteer-based effort to clean, paint and update schools across the Independence School District.

Each year, five schools are selected, volunteer teams are assembled to complete the work and sponsors demonstrate support with donations of funds and supplies. 2010 marks the second annual Project Shine event, which was established following the historic Extreme School Makeover in 2008.

“With our close ties to this community, we feel a strong sense of responsibility to support programs and events, such as Project Shine, that have a tangible impact in our schools and neighborhoods. These efforts ultimately improve the quality of life and sustainability of the communities we serve, and reside in as well,” states Greg Finke, Stewardship Capital Vice President.

In addition to being a sponsor of the event, members of the Stewardship Capital team will be working hands on to complete projects in the schools. “Every business who operates within the Independence School District should consider lending support in some way,” says Finke. “We challenge our business colleagues to join us in making a monetary donation, providing needed supplies or rallying a team of employees to volunteer for a few hours.”

The Independence School District’s Project Shine Coordinator, Lori Worth Smith appreciates Stewardship Capital’s support and them encouraging other businesses to take part. “Without the backing of companies like Stewardship Capital, who take action to invest in our community and genuinely care about making a difference, Project Shine could not happen,” states Smith.
